Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been given a major relief a day after an old video of him resurfaced in which he could be seen assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura.

In the 2016’s video, obtained by CNN on Friday from the now-closed Century City hotel in Los Angeles, the rap mogul could be seen brutally beating “Cassie” Ventura.

The disturbing footage saw Combs throwing Ventura to the ground and kicking her repeatedly before grabbing her purse and kicking her again.

Combs was seen wearing only a towel and socks while dragging Ventura away.

The video sparked outrage among fans, calling for immediate action against the rapper.

However on Saturday, the District Attorney of Los Angeles ruled out in favour of the Coming Home rapper, citing the statute of limitations.

The DA’s Office in an official statement noted they found the video “disturbing,” but charges couldn’t be filed against the rapper due to the time passed to the incident.

“We are aware of the video that has been circulating online allegedly depicting Sean Combs assaulting a young woman in Los Angeles,” the statement reads.

The office added, “We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to watch. If the conduct depicted occurred in 2016, unfortunately we would be unable to charge as the conduct would have occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted.”

However, the DA’s Office encouraged people, who have witnessed the crime or have any evidence to come forward and filed a complaint to law enforcement.

Last year, Ventura filed a civil complaint against Combs, in which she also accused the rapper of bribing the hotel $50,000 for the security footage.
