A man was arrested for arson, accused of setting fires outside hotel rooms in the Courtyard Marriott in downtown Baton Rouge, the Baton Rouge Fire Department said.

Firefighters responding to a commercial fire alarm shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Marriott hotel on Third Street found items had been set on fire outside rooms on the seventh floor of the building, the department said in a news release.

The fires were extinguished quickly and smoke extracted from the eight-story building.

Fire department investigators, after studying the hotel’s security video, spread out across downtown to look for the suspect, BRFD said.

Investigators were able to arrest the suspect, identified as Martin Henne, 36.

Henne was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on aggravated arson, the fire department said.
