GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – At around 8:05 a.m., the Glenwood Springs Fire Department (GSFD) received a report of a structure fire at the La Quinta Hotel in north Glenwood Springs.
Information received from the initial report confirmed smoke was emanating from a third-floor room and evacuations efforts were underway. Upon arrival fire crews located and extinguished the fire within minutes limiting the damage to two rooms.
Due to the heavy smoke, evacuations continued to ensure everyone was accounted for. Ventilation and overhaul efforts were carried out simultaneously, allowing occupants to return within the hour of the fire.
Incident Commander Hostetler praised the team’s efforts, stating, “Thanks to the quick and professional response of our firefighters, we were able to contain this fire to a single room and its contents. Their skill and dedication exemplify the highest standards of our profession, and I am proud to be a part of such a capable and committed team.”
The response team included one aerial, one engine, one ambulance, an investigation vehicle, and two command vehicles, staffed by nine firefighters. We extend our gratitude to Garfield County Dispatch for their support and to the Glenwood Springs Police Department for their assistance during this incident.
The Glenwood Springs Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, which is believed to be accidental. No injuries have been reported at this time.
No further information is available at this time.
