Oahu’s first adults-only hotel, Romer House Waikiki, is set to open its doors on June 1 on Waikiki Beach.
Designed as a “love letter” to the neighborhood, Romer House has midcentury-inspired interiors, a dining concept by TableOne Hospitality, curated local art partnerships, wellness programs, recreational amenities and a pool. Romer Hotels are sustainably designed.
Designed by Indidesign, and taking cues from its residential architectural past, the 179 guestrooms at the Romer House have a blend of woven textiles, rounded wood and matte black and midnight blues for a beach aesthetic. In many rooms, large glass sliding doors open to lanais. Highgate’s in-house design and construction studio, Lucid, led project management for the entire project.
The property partnered with artists from across Hawaii’s eight islands. The lobby has a gallery wall, the guestrooms have oversized photography by surf photographer Arto Saari and the pool deck has original murals by Matías Solario and Cory Kamehanaokalā Taum of Pow! Wow.
The hotel also has a reimagined Izakaya and bar from TableOne Hospitality. Izakaya 855-Aloha is overseen by Chef Shotaro “Sho” Kamio and combines Japanese techniques with local ingredients.
On the second floor, The Backyard pool and bar provide a social hub without splash-zone distractions. The venue has upholstered cabana daybeds, lounge vignettes and a full-service bar.
Other perks include pool-deck wellness classes by Body Balance Hawaii, complimentary bike rentals by Bike Factory Hawaii and a corner store selling clothing, decor and skincare from local vendors.
Managed by Highgate, Romer House Waikiki joins the Romer Hell’s Kitchen in New York City (which opened in September) and Romer Waikiki at the Ambassador (which opened in October).
