7 questions with Nurture Hospitality Group’s Gary Coward – Hotel Management

Gary Coward, president of Nurture Hospitality Group, is set to attend Hotec Operations, an annual conference presented by Questex, the parent company of Hotel Management. At the conference—scheduled this year for June 11-14 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.—buyers meet one-on-one with hospitality-focused suppliers to learn about new products and services and to keep up to date on emerging trends. 

Ahead of the event, Coward shared his insights on sustainability, socially responsible guest bathroom amenities and how hotels can benefit from buying amenities in bulk. 

1. How has your segment of the industry changed over the past year? 

  • A significant swing towards closed system (non-refill) and refillable bulk liquid dispensers in hospitality bathrooms. 
  • Eco Pak accessory items. 
  • Increased interest in companies with sustainability and socially responsible features, benefits and values.

2. Can you share some ways you and your company have adapted to these changes? 

  • Exclusive dispenser designs
  • Invisible floating wall brackets
  • Proprietary exclusive licensed retail brands
  • Replacing the large& heavy one-gallon refill containers with our exclusive Doypak [three-liter] recyclable liquid pouches which are easier& lighter for housekeepers to manage, us 60 percent less plastic than the one-gallon plastic containers and fully recyclable

3. What are some trends you think will have staying power beyond 2023? 

  • Dispensers
  • Eco Packaging

4. What is the biggest challenge you have overcome over the past year? 

Factory expansion to increase production capacities and domestic freight rates

5. How have you incorporated environmental, social and governance efforts into your hospitality operations? 

  • Eco Pure additive to our tubes (assist with speeding up biodegradability of plastics) 
  • 25 percent recycled cardboard in our cartons 
  • RSPO soaps (Roundtable Sustainable Palm Oil)
  • Our world-first nOcean plastics (plastics made for Ocean Bound reclaimed – repurposed plastics)
  • 115 percent carbon offset company & products.

6. What are you most excited about accomplishing over the next year? 

National distribution and introducing Nurture Hospitality Group and our unique benefits to the U.S. Hospitality Market

7. What is the value of meeting hospitality buyers one on one? 

  • No gatekeepers or firewalls keeping you away from let decision makers 
  • Make a personal connection and can create a [rapport]. 
  • Working is an enjoyable, pleasant and social environment. 
  • No boardrooms, Zoom calls or panels to navigate, just a personable, 1:1 meeting.
