UPDATE (2:53 p.m. on Monday, June 3): The 11-year-old who drowned in a Scioto County hotel pool has been identified by the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office as MacKenzie Cornell.


SCIOTO COUNTY, OH (WOWK) — An 11-year-old child drowned in a Scioto County hotel pool on Sunday, according to the county sheriff’s office.

Sheriff David Thoroughman tells 13 News that the call came in just after 6 p.m. on Sunday. The sheriff says it was at the Quality Inn in Wheelersburg.

The child’s identity has not been released at this time.
